Who attends a small liberal arts college or liberal arts college these days? Is it a back-up school if student can't get into state public flagship? Does each state have a well known liberal arts college, or are LACs mostly in the northeast region of US, along east coast US and east-midwest US?

My DD does. Had no interest in large state uni. We are full pay. |
How small? Does she like or not as much as she thought she might now after having attended the college? |
Ours didn’t apply to a single state school, no interest in big colleges. Who attends? Students looking for a smaller environment and have a broad interest in the liberal arts. |
Troll post. I’m gonna sit this one out. |
Why did you feel compelled to say "full pay?" That wasn't OP's question. |
Maybe because many SLAC goers are "full pay" so does that mean mostly wealthy students attend SLACs and LACs? |
The better ones have very generous financial aid. Some even offer merit aid. |
It’s relevant. They are expensive. |
People who don't want to go to a football school, and who instead value small class sizes and accessible faculty members. |
Generous financial aid is not likely to help most DCUM posters. DC is keen on SLACs but we weeded out those that don’t give any merit. |
Good for a niche sport activity student where their skills in whatever niche thing they have going for them is offered at a slac |
Makes sense. Our family only makes $110k and we had impeccable financial aid. |
My DC thought she wanted a SLAC. Turned out she hated it and transferred to one of our state universities starting sophomore year. Much better fit. |
It’s good that she found the right college for her. |
