Just noticed the this forum continuously highly overrates new England colleges compared to every other institution. It doesn't make much sense to me, because Virginia is not in New England, and it just seems strange that so many people find New England the standard. Any thoughts?

| I don’t accept your premise. What is your evidence if a New England bias? |
| There are some good schools in other areas, but the NE just has far more. Many people have a distaste for south so that factors in too. The Midwest seems to be getting more popular lately. |
| Virginia has maybe two decent private colleges. New England has dozens. It's like complaining about the Texas bias on an energy board. There's just more of it there. |
| Way too many outsiders have ruined this website. |
As long as the meanest people are still the locals, do outsiders really matter? |
I 100% think the nasty posters are local. |
I think maybe they're mad that Williams pops up so often in the University of Richmond thread?? |
| I like having outsiders, better to have perspectives from other areas added in. |
I'm pretty mean and I'm local. |
As opposed to what other region of the country? Whatever region you can come up with, it’s a big time loser compared to New England. |
Call me. |

OP, I definitely get where you're coming from. I have the unfortunate privilege of being a Berkeley alum, so every time someone mentions my alma mater on here, it is resoundingly negative; even though, they somehow believe that these large class issues disappear for UVA and other public institutions.
I've also had the humorous experience of being yelled at on this thread that a certain tiny Liberal arts college has better research access than Caltech. If there were better forums for California parents, I'd honestly get on them even though I live in the DMV, because the takes on Californian institutions are so bizarrely wrong here. |
| Because a lot of moms here want to be cool enough to be Needham or even Wellesley Moms, but instead, they reside on swamplands. |
Non confederate states are better. |
