I inherited a beautiful old, uniform, collection of hardback books, with maroon-colored covers. The copyright suggests they were published around 1927.
I realize books are out of fashion. But is there somewhere within NOVA or D.C., where one might sell or donate these books? |
| It's spelled canon. |
| Online. Odds of finding someone local for something like that is not very high. |
Boom! |
| We donate books to the Friends of the Library Bookstore in Rockville and they have lots of old books. At the very least, someone might want them for ambience. |
| Auction house? Weschlers or Quinn’s? Or maybe consign them at the Opportunity shop in Georgetown? I wouldn’t expect to get very much. |
legit lol |
You can also see if the big secondhand bookstore in Rockville can sell them. https://www.secondstorybooks.com/?gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=8969949345&gbraid=0AAAAADRNUodDDNbrLHRGoXCy4CRVFi_Zx&gclid=Cj0KCQjwnJfEBhCzARIsAIMtfKJTEU-83PlXF511PtsTlUqAZyfSPK16ls_cAzKoVN50E8dpQaznlxcaAtZzEALw_wcB |
| A decorator might want them. Or an old fashioned bar. |
| “Books are out of fashion”? |
Funny/sad story. At a nice bar once, bookshelves on wall filled with various books. Parents come in with a kid, sit at table underneath one of the book shelves next to us. After a while notice the kid point up at the books. Parent takes one off shelf and hands it to kid. Kid pokes at it, looking at it. Parent asked "what are you doing?" and kid replied "Where is the power button?" |
You're not going to be able to sell them, but if they're in good shape (no yellowing, no foxing), you can donate them to a Friends of the Library sale |
|
What books are in the set? I actually think you might find a buyer if it’s in good shape. I’m guessing like Ivanhoe, something by Dickens, something by Twain, something like Three Musketeers, Les miserables, Moby dick? If there are female authors like Austin, brinte, Wharton migjtc be even more likely to sell.
There are antique store in Kensington — might be worth calling to ask. But otherwise online. |
| No one wants them. No one is going to go to a Friends of the Library sale and buy them either. Just post them for free on Craigslist or Freecycle. Some bibilophile will take them. |
| Donate to library book sale or list for free online for pick up. |
