Ballpark estimate for 2 or 3 story bump out for Bethesda Colonial?

Anyone with recent experience with a 2 story bump out (kitchen/family room first floor, master suite second) care to share how much it cost, and if we also want to expand the basement (dig out) essentially making it a 3 story bump out, how much that would add to the cost?

How much square feet are you adding? Will this include gutting and redoing the kitchen? At least 400+ per square feet. Digging out your basement is going to be expensive.

Off the top of my head I'd say $1M.

Quotes I got last year for a modest bump out 200 sq ft on two floors including a new kitchen was $350-400k. No basement dig out.

Anytime you're adding on to the house it's going to be a lot. I think 400-500k sounds about right not including a basement dig out.

This. Imo not worth it. Move or knock the whole thing down and rebuild.

Probably $6-700k for the 3 levels. They have to dig out part of the foundation so adding a basement digout isn’t a lot more. But you also need to finish the basement which adds cost.
