Commuting to Alexandria

we’ve been house hunting for ~6 months in Maryland thinking DH would be working in DC. It now looks like he’ll be working in Alexandria.

What areas would you be looking to live in with an under 1 hour commute to Alexandria with an $800k budget, 3 (ideally 4) bedrooms, 2 baths, town home or SFH? We’d love somewhere with some walkability to shops & restaurants but not a deal breaker. We do have a toddler so would like decent schools but aren’t opposed to private in the future either.

Fort Hunt is a little more expensive but your commute would be great.

Shirlington/Fairlington. However, if you are going to have an additional child you will likely quickly outgrow Fairlington.

Lorton Va could work ; commute under thirty minutes in the morning depending on where in Alexandria you’re going; may need to pay for express lanes to commute home In a reasonable amount of time .

Should add - this is not walkable but you get a lot of space for the money compared to where I live in Alexandria
