I’ve just decided to start a GLP med. I need to lose about 60 pounds, but cost is a serious issue for me. I’ve been advised by my physician to use a compounded version to keep costs down, but even that will be a stretch for me.
Semaglutide is cheaper but tirzepatide is more effective. I don’t want to be pennywise and pound foolish. If I start with semaglutide but it doesn’t work as well and I have to use it longer, then I end up spending more. Any advice? |
What’s your budget? I’m getting a three month supply from Brillo for $500 |
For tirzepatide or semaglutide? |
For me, I was able to justify Zepbound via Lily Direct which is $500 a month. That is $125 a week. I am probably breaking even when I think about the food and alcohol I'm not buying. My diet has gotten very clean and because of the lack of 'food noise' my cravings for variety have vanished, I just eat the same things over and over. And I don't want alcohol.
YMMV. |
I did compounded Semaglutide through Ro and lost 25lb in 3 months, plus a few more pounds after I had tapered back down to a tiny dose for a month of maintenance. I never even made it past the midway point on dosing. DH lost 80lb in 6 months on the same. I wouldn’t worry about the efficacy of it. |
I’ve already cut alcohol - so no help there. Maybe I’ll save a bit by not buying donuts, but that’s not going to get me to $500 a month. I definitely cannot afford the Lily direct plan, which is $349 for the first month and $499 and up for subsequent months. |
Tirz |
I have had great success on tirzepatide. I get it through lily direct. I have also ordered it from fifty410 compounded which is cheaper. |
