Old window screens

Anonymous
I want to get rid of some old window bug screens. They are really old steel/iron- no plastic.

Do gardeners want these kind of things? Any suggestions of where to take them?

Throw them in your attic. You might find a use for them someday. Won't take up much space at all.

Are you a gardener? Maybe the old screens can be lightly placed over newly-planted seeds to keep the birds from eating them before they sprout and grow.

Ugh, no, just throw them out. Otherwise your kids will be cleaning debris out of your attic after you're dead and still no one will have used the screens.

Find uses then. Repurposing things is a thing. Takes intelligence and creativity.

Post on your local Facebook or buy nothing group and likely someone will want them. If they're in good condition donate to a place like Community Forklift.

If they are original to the house, you save them in the attic in case future owners want to restore. Your kids shouldn't clean them out either.

I have a historic home. I'd take them if they fit my windows.

Prior homeowner put in cheap ones, and they break constantly.

I've used them to dry herbs.

Neat idea! Could stack them even to keep flies away and off the herbs.
