IM Disclosure Review Office (SEC)

Anonymous
Does anyone have experience working in IM Disclosure Review Program? I know SEC is not hiring right now. I wanted to see what a typical day is like for these attorneys. By nature, I am introverted and looking for an introverted-heavy job where I have a sense of autonomy as well. And is this office pretty similar to Corp Fin Review Program in terms of the high stress and production?

OP, what is your background? It is a very specific skill set.

I am capital markets background. Have heard mixed things about Corp Fin although this fits with my background more.

It's busy - long hours; not long like biglaw but I hear from them on the regular that they work a few hours each weekend etc. It does fit the introvert personality; I like the few people I know over there but just be forewarned it isn't a 40 hr/wk punch the clock type govt job and hasn't been for years - like they are always that busy.

I know several people who left CF for IM and am not aware of anyone doing the reverse. Everyone that left says it is much better over there although I have had a hard time pinning them down on what is better other than better management. It also sounds like they aren't on the same ultra rigid processing times as CF so maybe that's part of it as well.

I thought CorpFin were the only ones in the building who worked an honest 40 hours a week, due to production quotas.

How horrifying.

The people you know who work there have fooled you. It is a 40hr/week government job. Maybe slightly busy at certain times of the year but not working weekends busy.

Ok fine. I mean I don't work there so don't care one way or the other and those people don't talk as big as many others in the building so I can't see them lying but if you say so.

There are folks who have done the reverse. CF is a good division, and is better now that leadership below the director level turned over a few years ago.
