Consensus on how to deal with jowels in our 50s?

Anonymous
I just saw some recent pics of myself smiling, which I love, but I have major wrinkles now where I smile! What is the best procedure?

Botox or fillers?

I feel you do not know what jowls are. They are not wrinkles that come out when you smile.

My plan for wrinkles is acceptance if I can, lower face lift at 60 if I can't.

OP here. What is the proper term for what I am talking about?

What is a lower facelift?

Nasiolabial folds?

Jowls are the jawline.

Your husband needs to kiss you more. It works like a face lift unless he has bad breath.

A deep plane facelift. None of the non surgical treatments will be effective for someone in their 50's. and no "mini facelift" BS. That's just a marketing term so people don't feel that they are doing something very invasive.

What’s the verdict on these? Would anyone do it in mid 40s assuming some weight loss that created visible jowls and a resting frown?

Lots of people have facelifts or neck lifts in their forties after major weight loss.

Two of my friends had mini facelifts in their 40s in the past year. They look fantastic. It’s not nearly as drastic of a change as a deep plane at 60, but definitely enough that they look like a REALLY good version of themselves from 10 years prior. I am personally very jealous.

Do they work? Wondering how they recover from that surgery if they have to show up somewhere every day.

Good question. So I saw one a week after surgery. She was slightly swollen and the scars were very apparent if hair was not covering them. At 3 weeks, she was probably still swollen but I could not tell and the scars were only visible when she pointed them out. She looked really good at 3 weeks. I know the full results take a year, but by 3 weeks everyone in our friend group was jealous of the transformation.

I am going to do it myself (slightly older), especially after seeing these results. I do not want to do filler/botox. I do retin A/vitamin C religiously and have good skin, but turkey necks/jowls run in my family and are hitting me hard.

OP here. I have no husband now. He was a deadbeat husband and father I need to find someone to make out more.

OP again. I haven’t experienced extreme weight loss. I have been consistent for most of my adult life. Not sure if this applies to me. I just see deeper lines when I smile, and I smile a lot. Like where my dimples are located.
