Mid century style dining chairs

Anonymous
I’m looking for decent quality dining chairs with a Scandinavian or mid-century design (simple, but interesting). I’m fine spending a few hundred on a chair, but I want it to be decent quality and last. Can you recommend some brands that fit these wants?

Antique stores that specialize in mcm. You're likely to find actual chairs from that time period that are well made.

THIS.

Like mentioned in another thread, the only good modern "new" furniture you will find these days is so outrageously expensive, like $10,000 starting price for just a coffee table or chair, and goes up from there.

Antiques are well made and very cheap because many people simply have no clue about furniture and buy Ikea and other Walmart tier junk.

Eh- I bought a Heywood Wakefield original dining room table and chairs and they are not all that.

Exactly, furniture was already going downhill after WWII in the USA and becoming modern garbage. Must get real antiques.

Not MCM. At least on the East.

You may have some luck buying chairs on FB marketplace and taking them to reupholster and spruce up. I paid about $300 per chair last year for a significant overhaul; if you get chairs for <$100 each, that makes sense.

I'd never use facebook, but have no idea as to what you might find on it. Probably no different than garage sales, estate sales, antiquing, etc.

Auctions are the best for your dollar. And of course you usually have to refinish the furniture. That's most of the fun also.

See post before yours. Have to go a bit older. Victorian Era is best.
