how much KwH of electricity this month?

Anonymous
Just got a msg from Pepco saying my expected use for this month is 1535kwh which is like double of what we normally use. WTF? how bad is yours? typical middle-class home (2650 sq ft in MoCo). Keep the AC temp pretty high so this is surprising.

I looked up my latest bill that goes till last week and usage was 1200 KW. We have a 2400 sq ft rambler, with a partial basement. Windows are ancient and single pane but the house has wide roof overhangs and is designed so that the sun doesn’t directly hit except on one side. We keep the AC at 76 during the day when everyone is out of the house and 72 when we are at home.

That's probably about average. Similar size house in past used about that much in summer with A/C set at 81 in day and 77 at night.

We were at 1,412 kwh last month, temp set to 74 during the day (I work from home), and 71 at night. Whole house is electric, minus gas clothes dryer, with 4,900 sq feet of living space. But, its a pretty new build with a bunch of energy efficiency upgrades.

Not bad at all for a house that size!

Electric dryer is usually only about 25-50cents per 40 min average load.
