I keep seeing it referenced in Princeton threads. |
Social club where people eat. Shares a lot of customs with Greek life, with some differences. |
Amherst doesn’t have it! Reason it’s so elite. |
Is it the only option for eating at Princeton? Or are there regular cafeterias too? |
It's such an absurd thing to call it. "Eating club"? |
There are cafeterias and dorms with kitchens. |
Please stop. I have no idea how this all started but I’m an Amherst parent and it’s neither elite nor the worst place on earth. |
Thanks! What percentage of students join eating clubs? |
About 75% of Princeton juniors and seniors. Freshmen and sophomores live in residential colleges that have their own dining halls. |
Do the juniors and seniors live in the eating clubs? |
A few club officers might, but generally no. Most live in dorms. |
You have a browser open and decided to start a thread instead of just googling? |
Davidson has this as well. |
Our friend’s daughter went to Davidson, and liked the eating clubs because they offer a social connection without the exclusivity: if you want to be in one, you are in (no rush/application process). |
Our son established one in HS but it only lasted a few weeks. Student participation was good; lack of food was too much to handle. LOL |
