Any opinions about Rockville HS?

I am currently up for a position teaching at Rockville HS and was wondering if anyone here had any opinions of the school or any information I should know going into it. Staff, student, family perspectives are all welcome.

It doesn't get a lot of attention because it's one of the smaller high schools in MCPS. Decent, middle-of-the-pack neighborhood school.

My kid had a great experience and some great teachers. He graduated last year.

I have not heard good things about one of the administrators.

Rockville is one of the smaller schools in the entire county, so that means making friends could be easier or harder depending on how long your kids have been in the cluster. Most of the RHS kids know each other because of elementary school and because the school only serves one middle school.

Clubs are great in the school. All of my kids attended at least one club and in terms of academics, Rockville is an IB school where it offers both the DP and CRP. The teachers are very welcoming and while Rockville and every school has problems with safety and fighting, that would only be my drawback on Rockville, as well as probably improving the administration.

So overall, Rockville is a nice school. It obviously isn't the best but I am assure your child will be fine.

OP is not sending her child there. She’s considering taking a teaching position there.

"He" but it's whatever. I do have a HS aged child I could consider switching schools but she really enjoys the HS she is currently at.
