The idea that democrats don't own, like or know how to use guns is so strange.

Saying there shouldn't be unlimited high power weapons of war available to any nut that wants to murder school children is not the same as saying you don't enjoy gun ownership, hunt or have been trained to use weapons.

I'm a dyed in the wool Dem and think we should have an assault rifle ban—but I'm also a handgun owner and as a teenager worked my way to near the top of the NRA's marksman certifications.

Many of us like guns, we just don't worship them.

It would likely be considered an official gift and become the property of the state given that it exceeds the $630 official gift limit. Newsom would not personally own it. If he personally kept (not likely), he would need to get the correct license in California.

More likely scenario? The firearm was given to an LEO member of his security detail who can legally handle, transport, and oversee the transfer of the firearm to the state of California.

Newsom hosted Steve Bannon and Charlie Kirk on his podcast. TikTok influencer Kirk indoctrinates young white males. Newsom’s son was hooked. Plus, Newsom is playing a more moderate, slightly conservative game to win over the non maga voters. I think it’s going to be a serious primary with solid, serious candidates. He’s not my first choice.

The manufacturer will likely ship it to a CA gun store. Newsom will need to go through the process like everyone else for appearances. The cost of the gun straight from the manufacturer will be under the $630 limit.
