I live about 15 minutes away from the new Wegmans in Rockville. I went today and was happy with the selection and prices. However I pass a few other stores on the way so it feels crazy to drive so far for a weekly shopping trip.
How far are you willing to drive every week for a grocery trip? Is it worth it to go this far? |

I go to multiple stores and don't think 15 minutes is too far if you are getting what you want that you can't at other stores or getting better prices.
I go to Wegmans for sushi, the bakery, and prepared meals. |

I have a Trader Joe’s and Safeway within a mile of my house. I prefer to go to the Germantown Wegmans that is a 20 minute drive away because it is so much better than Safeway and I can do a real one-stop shop. It saves me the hassle of going to multiple places. I only go to the Safeway in an emergency.
I tried the new Rockville Wegmans and it is closer but the store is smaller and much crazier than Germantown so I’m going to stick to that one. |
| No idea. I either have them delivered or my PC supplies them. |

How helpful to the OP!! |
| No one but you can determine whether or not driving 15 minutes and passing other stores is worth it to you or not. Do these other stores have the same items, at the same price point? The same selection? What are your factors in making this determination? How is parking at the other locations? Is that a factor? |
| If you’re finding what you want at the Wegmans, what’s the problem? Are you unlimited time? Concerned about driving the extra half mile due to gas prices? What made you even think to consider driving 15 minutes to the store could be an issue? |
| I drive 35-40 hour to Wegman's because I love it but it's not my regular grocery store. I go really early on the weekend to avoid traffic and stock up on my favorites. |
| I prefer close by, so stick with my local Giant. Could drive once a week or 2 weeks to a grocery story farther away to stock up on things can’t find in my local giant. But wouldn’t make a store 15 minute drive away (especially if on a highway) my everyday type of get milk and fruit store. |
| I wasn’t too impressed with the prices at Wegmans, and it was too chaotic. So I wouldn’t drive to Wegmans for 15 minutes, but I would for a store that I liked. |
A new Wegman's is always chaotic at first. It'll settle down. And yes they know how to price gouge you so you have to keep your wits about you and comparison shop. There are good deals in the Wegman's brand items. |
| Depends on where you are going and why. Have cousins who live in the desert who travel 2 hours each direction once a month to stock up. |

I mix it up. There is a Safeway about a mile and a half from home and a Giant about an 8 minute drive. Giant is cheaper and has a better selection so I tend to go there for my main shopping of the week and hit the Safeway when I just need to grab a couple of things.
I love the Trader Joe’s but it’s 15 minutes away so I only go there when I need specific things - stocking the freezer with some easy dinners or snacks. And while I’m there I get fruit and veggies since usually the prices are good. |
Move along jackwad. No one believes you. |
