I make imaginary request deadlines in my head all the time.
"Okay I'll give this person, 3 days to respond." "They shoudl be able to do this in five days." The probelm is, I'll stew if they don't. Lately I've had a lot of stuff that I ordered online delayed and I'm finding myself frustrated that it's not here on time. Do I have a problem?? Or are most people like this. |
I thin maybe you have a communication problem. People don't know about the imaginary deadlines in your head |
I ordered 3 things from Amazon on July 1. 2 items are due to arrive Saturday, July 19 and the other item has a maybe date range of July 24-Aug 4. I don’t have Prime and never, ever going to get it.

I am not sure this reply was sufficiently timely. I am sorry. |
I think the imaginary deadline is probably a funny quirk of yours.
Many people are frustrated by delayed orders and responses. Is it a problem? Maybe if you don’t actually need the orders or the responses, but still get pissed if they are late? Like if you are ordering for Christmas, it would be silly to fret over a late order. To me (completely uneducated, so it’s worth nothing), this sounds more like anxiety exhibited through a desire to control your environment. |
I think you definitely have some problems. |
No one does this??? The imaginary timelines??
Someone does something twice and you think to yourself, if they do it again that's it! |
Try to get a handle on your punctuation. |
Agree with another poster that this is likely anxiety. |
Anxiety is all very well until it expresses itself as anger against others. So learn how to manage your anxiety and don't get angry at people. |
I don't do this but I recently noticed a friend of mine mimics what I do when we respond its very strange. I think she might be like you or something. If I take one hour to respond to a text then she does too. If I take 2 days to respond to an email she takes 2 days, I tested it once more for longer and it's the same. It's getting strange now. |
I make up arbitrary deadlines in my head all the time, but it’s so I remember to follow up if I don’t get a response, something doesn’t arrive, etc. Ex: I have a dispute on a medical bill and make a call to the provider. If the bill is due in two weeks, I “give” them five business days to respond so I’ll have time to try again before my payment is late. |
