Are passport stamps still a thing?

Recently went thru Heathrow, are actual passport stamps/stamping no longer a thing?

We got stamps when leaving St Pancras International train station and when leaving CDG, but not when entering Heathrow.

Not if they have electronic gates

I think it depends on the day and the airport.

My flight home from the EU was cancelled last month, so over the course of 24 hours I have an exit stamp (thought I’d be leaving), an entry stamp (after the cancellation), another exit stamp (next day’s flight out), and finally a stamp at the layover airport.

We got stamps from CDG, St. Pancras and Belgium St. Peter’s station and we would not have gotten Heathrow but the agent added at the last minute if we wanted a stamp instead of digital and no asked for a stamped passport so we got LHR going back to the states.

My dd and I got stamps in Jamaica because she’s under 13 and I had to go through passport control with a real person when we entered the country. My dh and ds did it electronically and they did not get stamps. They were bummed!

The only recent ones that I have are Malaysia, Japan and Singapore. All 3 countries are sort of old-school and bureaucratic like that, so I guess it makes sense. But otherwise my travel is primarily Europe and my passport looks empty and sad.

Got stamps in 5 African countries last month .

Yes. I’ve visited 10 countries in the last year and have stamps from all of them. In the UK we got stamps entering through the channel tunnel and leaving from Heathrow.

I used to travel a lot and remember still days about 15 years ago and earlier when my passport used to run out of free pages due to visas and airport entry/ exit stamps. Now fewer airports stamp than not, and I don’t face this issue anymore. So in my experience, yes, in many countries, it’s no longer a thing.

I can’t remember the last time I got a stamp although a lot of my travel is to Heathrow where I just use the scanners. I might have gotten a stamp in the Bahamas last year. Not in Canada, Switzerland, Germany, Italy or the UK in the last 18 months.

It depends on the country. I can't use the electronic gates because I travel with a child. I got stamps in Germany but not in the UK.
