Taylor's first year

Well Taylor's first year at MCPS is complete. What's the verdict? Will this Superintendent be around for awhile or is MCPS going to continuing burning and churning?

I feel like he is not just deferring to whatever the longtime Central Office staff want to do, which I think is really important.

But I'm not sure how much I like what he comes up with himself...

What has he come up with besides a new senior leadership team, increase staff to Special Ed, and dealing with the budget woes?
Oh that's right the cross-functional teams for school support, which we'll have to wait till this year to see if there is any improvement.

This thread simply proves that there is literally not a single superintendent who would make the crazy parents on this thread happy.

Seriously - what could a superintendent do to get a good grade on the DCUM report card? Wave a magic wand and bridge the equity gap while simultaneously never busing a single student? Find hundreds of qualified people who are willing to take on brutal special education positions at salary that doesn't reflect the amount of work that is needed so that programs can be fully staffed?

It is a thankless, thankless job.

You incorrectly used the word parents, instead of staff and/or CentralOffice (CO). There are plenty of MCPS CO and MCPS staff lurking on here who are vocal of any Super and their own peers at CO (take a look at some threads from when McKnight was Super and after she exited).

Be it black, white, women or other, Central Office employees are never gonna be happy with the Super. AI will take over most of the jobs soon enough, enjoy it while you can.

The new secondary grading policy isn't "for show." That's a significant change that's been needed for a long time.
