My 3 yr old is starting Bethune in the Fall and would love to find other families. Anyone's toddler or older kids attend Bethune? |
Outdated probably for what you're looking for but my now teen attended Bethune for the PreK years. LOVED it. The ratios were great for that age (2 teachers per classroom for about 13 kids) and her teachers knew her really well. The bathrooms within the classrooms, with lower seats at that, were a godsend as my kiddo finally potty trained the weekend before school started. I also appreciated that the littles were separated from the older grades.
In short, the school felt like a steal. |
Which Bethune? |
The new Takoma site |
We were there for pk3 and pk4. Now leaving at K. There seem to be about 4 of the 20 kids that are staying past pk4. It’s fine for ece. The teachers were good, the Spanish was good. The biggest issue is the central administration, versus the NW location, although they have gotten a little better. Things like communication, the way they treat teachers and backup plans if teachers quit. They have been mostly focused on the other campus, and the NW campus feels a bit like the stepsister who lives in the attic with the central admin. With the new location will come more changes, hopefully for the better |
We were at the Brookland location for prek3. It was fine, not great. It was definitely a temporary school for us and I think that’s true for a lot of people. We would have gone with our inbound for
Prek4 if we hadn’t gotten into our top choice. |
