Homeserve heating and cooling plan is it worth it?

Anonymous
So I am currently taking care of my parents house and they have home serve with heating and cooling repair and there was a hole in one of the coils outside of the HVAC and the HVAC is not working anymore or cooling. I mean so if I call them does that mean that my rate will probably go up for heating and cooling repair or would it also cause their home insurance to go up? Just curious since I am new to managing a home.

They are awful.

No, your rate with home serve will not go up, nor will your home insurance. I have the hvac plan with them and used it a few times. I kind of agree with the pp that the companies/technicians they contract for repairs are not that great. In my case, it took multiple visits and failures until they agreed to replace the faulty part instead of cleaning and oiling it. Have them fix the issue, then cancel the contract, not worth it in my view unless you have an 30-year old unit.

I had a similar service a while back. When my HVAC failed, they refused to fix it because it was over 10 years old (or 20, I forget). Sure enough, it was in the fine print. I cancelled the service and went with someone else to replace.

They did fix my water heater a couple of times. Each visit costs you something.. like a copay.

Yeah, $50 copay, which they wave if it is the same issue within 90-days

No reputable HVAC contractor deals with home warranty companies.

It's hot. Do you want it fixed fast?
Call a real HVAC company and pay for them to come and fix it. If you live in DMV call HVAC Unlimited.
