There will always be a subset of students like this at any university. Yale has a lot of them, as do the other top Ivies. I noticed a lot of polished students at George Washington when I visited. My son lowered that average by a significant amount

You clearly haven't been paying attention. Notre Dame students seem to be very friendly and polished. More so than others I'v seen. I'd add McGill too. |

College students the world over basically sweatpants/leggings/hoodie wearers who roll out of bed to go to class. |
