We are going to the beach later this summer with our 12 month old and doing our first family photos (also the first time my husband and I have had professional photos since we got married over 5 years ago). I have no idea what to wear/what looks good in photos. I am 5'4 with dark brown hair, fairly pale, size 10 hourglass, and my style is casual/not particularly girly. I would love to match with DD but it seems that most mommy & me outfits are frilly. Would love any suggestions!
Photos will take place at sunset in the Caribbean FWIW. |
Shades of blue always work well for beach photos. Highly recommend wearing short sleeves for yourself and not a tank unless your arms are very toned. One person can do a patterned dress or shirt but keep it to one pattern. |
Since it's going to be sunset you may want to ask your photographer what will photograph best. Does your photographer have sample sunset photos on their website? I'm thinking you could mix white clothes, khaki, and light blue. I'd stay away from any patterns/prints. But textures could work - like seersucker and eyelet. |
After Googling and seeing which photos I like best, I would wear:
1. All the same solid color (when different colors it looks like just a really well taken version of your average photo) 2. White to pop against all the beautiful sunset colors (blue can blend in if there is a lot of sky or water; dark colors stand out too starkly.) 3. Thin fabrics that have movement (It looks magical if wind is blowing, the family is captured moving with the baby.) |
