We are taking a long drive next week and these popped into my head as something that could help kill time, but are they geared towards little kids? |
no. |
They’re more for third graders. Maybe reading them aloud in the car could be funny but I can’t see my own kids going for that. I’d find funny podcasts or audiobooks. |
Not unless you are playing a cards against humanity style of outrage and perversion |
Which I totally remember doing in high school randomly one day - at least the outrage part. And I've seen tweens do more recently. Teens maybe not so much. |
Yeah you might get 15 minutes out of this. |
5-10 minutes of interest at most.
I've been on a bunch of long drives with my teenagers this year, and the best car entertainment has been podcasts that we discuss as we listen to them. This American Life or Judge John Hodgeman have been good ones for giving us a topic to discuss. |
I tried to get my kids interested in a brand new, US politics-themed Mad Libs book that I got at a booksale for 25 cents. It went on a bunch of car trips without getting used. I eventually released it back into the Little Free Library wild after owning for probably ten years.
I had had luck with sticker books and Where's Waldo at early ages. But my kids prefer reading, video games, and even just looking out the windows quietly to any family games. |
My kids are in their early 20s. If they’re with us for a long car drive, we still do mad libs. We often end up laughing hysterically. Until I read this thread, I honestly thought that pretty much everyone enjoys them! |
I think this works if everyone playing has a similar sense of humor and you know how to bring out the absurd just right. |
No. They are way too old for that kind of stuff. |
My 11 year old loves them but that's not really teen. |
Depends on your sense of humor. I didn't even find them funny as a kid. |
Certainly worth a shot.
In todays instant oatmeal tiktok IG pop fake-news fast-food me-me-me want it right now culture, it doesn't hurt to do something that requires more than a min of attention and a couple brain cells at least. |
Our teens love them but they use dirty / gross words and we don't care. Pretty funny. |
