What’s like Kiawah but less expensive?

Anonymous
Is there a beach resort comparable to Kiawah but less expensive (even if just slightly less expensive)?

I know about Seabrook next door—how does it compare?

What are some other beach resorts in SC or NC or VA that have a somewhat similar vibe in terms of amenities and access to something to do aside from the beach?

Stay in the center of Kiawah rather than a seaview. That cost us less.

Seabrook is similar but the beach isn’t quite as good. Definitely cheaper to stay there though.

ETA: you could also look into the Folly Beach area.

Wild Dunes on Isle of Palm

Seabrook's beach is similar but not the amenities. 1 restaurant at the golf club, 1 at the pool and that's about it. Not dissing it, its just more sleepy.

This- we have stayed in Seabrook, Kiawah, IOP main and IOP- Wild Dunes. You'll feel similar to Kiawah in Wild Dunes but fewer food options.

Seabrook is much more residential, not as resort-like. I enjoy staying on Seabrook but going over to Kiawah for the amenities.

Pawleys Island with day trip to Charleston and/or Myrtle Beach. PI is not a resort though. Been to both and prefer PI.

I often stay on Seabrook but agree it is much more residential than resort. The houses are smaller (which is great for us). Beaches are smaller but generally less crowded. And there is a beach on the river that is a nice alternative to the ocean beach.

I have friends who stay on Folly Beach every year and enjoy it (though not sure of the golf situation).

Honestly, nothing compares. Kiawah is a little slice of heaven.

How can you get into Kiawah if you aren’t staying there? It’s gated with security.

NP - what does Kiawah offer that closer beaches don't have?

There's shops and restaurants outside the gate.
