Sleeping bags for 11 year old

Anonymous
Can someone recommend a 11 year old sleeping bag for sleepaway camp? He will use it for overnight camping outdoor & sleeping in a cabin. Thank you.

I'd just buy a cheap one at Walmart. It's summer (so doesn't need to be super warm) and the likelyhood of it getting lost/ruined/dirty is next to 100% LOL

Look at LL bean, the adult sized bags. Get one that unzips completely (rather than cocoon style) so it can be used more as a duvet.

Just get an adult sized bag. He'll be adult sized soon. I always recommend a 30 degree bag, as it will generally work for three seasons.

LLbean and REI have some good inexpensive ones. But I would also look at Walmart - brands like Coleman. Don't go too big if you are using it for more than camp - you lose heat in the cooler months if the bag is too big. and don't go too big if he has to carry it. I would also take sheets to camp if there are cots/beds as that is way more comfortable.

I agree with getting a cheap one from Walmart. We have their brand of sleeping bags, Ozark Trail is their brand name and they have a few varieties on their website. We’ve been using them for a few years and no problems with durability. My 11 year old is still using the youth one but she’s short.
