PHP Experiences with Discovery Mood & Anxiety Program or Embark

I am hoping to find someone who has had experience with either of these PHP programs. Looking at the Fairfax location (Discovery) and Tysons (Embark). Treatment is for our 14 year old who has anxiety and is AuDHD. Issues include screen addiction and escalating anger at home. We have done all the therapies over the years (outpatient, IOP, residential), currently on/have trialed different meds, encourage good exercise, diet, and sleep. It has been a long road. Just looking for feedback if you have had any experiences with these treatment centers. Thanks for any insights you can offer.

We just discharged from Discovery and had a positive experience in PHP for our 15 year old son who is same profile (AuDHD/Anxiety). They allowed him the time he needed to warm up and participate in the group slowly and on his terms. He will never be a big sharer, rather he takes the world in.

All that said, I do think they could be better at communicating progress. I found that I had to call or email his therapist to see week to week how he was doing. Maybe that’s normal, but it wasn’t clearly communicated that I would have to actively seek feedback.

Thanks so much for offering your feedback. It is hard to find others who have shared in this kind of experience and can offer firsthand feedback…not like the days of yore when all I was looking for was a good SLP or OT! Best of luck to your child post-discharge.
