DD taking an Amtrak train to an internship interview in the afternoon. How is the scene for a 16 yr old taking an Amtrak herself at Union station, transferring from Metro? |
Perfectly fine |
Tell her to sit next to a woman. Not alone - if she sits alone near an empty seat guarantee a man will want to sit next other her. |
Absolutely fine. I'm a woman who has taken Amtrak solo to NYC multiple times and never had a problem. |
It depends on the time of day. About what time will she be there? Morning or afternoon should be fine. Evening or especially night, definitely not. |
I work at union station it is fine during the day. |
45pm is safe right? Rush hour crowds |
5 pm |
It will be fine to transfer from metro to Amtrak at 5 pm on a weekday. Lots of commuters doing the same. |
Yes, that time should be fine. When I need to ride the train in NYC these days, I try to board near some man who looks like he wouldn’t be afraid to defend a woman, if need be. |
My 12 year old daughter commutes regularly from Union Station to school. Your daughter will be fine. |
Absolutely fine. 6th graders from our neighborhood transfer through there all the time. |
I take the Marc train to work daily and there are quite a few kids that use the train to commute to school. |
