I earned my manager's irk and i feel i am being isolated. Almost all my work is individual. i am sent on work travel by myself. Teams that I dod put together are being disbanded.
Of course I am looking for a new job. it's really a tough time. Any tips on coping? We are hybrid 3 days in office. the in office days are the worst. No one eats lunch with me. No one talks to me. Someone I know from a different department saw me and asked how I was doing. I said I was hanging in there, and I thought I would cry. I know layoffs are looming and maybe this is their way of making it easier on them, but it really hurts. |
What did you do? |
Hugs Op, bring ear buds and listen to music?
|
Why did everyone take your manager's side? The manager gossiped to others about you? Not very professional. |
Sorry OP - I have been in toxic work environments and it's the worst. You'll get out of there and have happier days! |
Damn, you must be an extrovert.
In my 3 years at my current job, I've never eaten lunch with coworkers, always by myself. |
When you work, it's not time for socializing. |
I am so sorry❤️ I am going through the same thing.
It sucks. |
Thanks all. It shouldnt matter what I did or did not do. Lay me off instead of this torture. That they cant fire me for cause should say that I do not deserve this kind of treatment. |
I used to work in a toxic environment like that. It was a pain to fire anyone (even for cause) so they would make the environment as miserable as possible while still being legal so the person would quit. |
They may not be able to fire you, but if you did something so offensive that NO ONE will eat with you, it sounds like you are suffering the social consequences of whatever you did. Seems like what that was has a lot to do with whatever treatment you are getting now. |
Why do you want to engage with others at work? 99% of you would never want to engage with if you weren't forced to be in close proximity to each other. Do you really care about therm at all, do you really value what they think or feel about you? Its a job its a means to an end, acknowledge that. When you learn to not care it is amazing how much less stress you will have and how much more successful you will be. |
I'm the PP who worked in a similar toxic environment. It's not that simple. If you sided with the person being "shunned" you were the next target. Most of us there were young and didn't have the ability to just quit or lose our jobs without something lined up so we just tried our best to keep our heads down while we tried to get the hell out of there. |
I've worked places like that, sure. I've also worked places where toxic employees couldn't be fired and the only consequences available were social consequences. |
Hey High and Mighty, my fault was I tried to save my company money by pointing out why a vendor my mgr played golf with was overcharging us 20% above market value and producing inferior work. I am suffering the social consequences of what I did. I dont want to file a case. i just want to land in a different place. I will not be surprised if there was an order not to talk to me. |
