| I don't understand why tournaments wait so long to post brackets/pools...especially at showcases or even the national events (ECNL playoffs, GA Playoffs, USYS National Championship)...these teams are known for at times months already and they still don't post the brackets/pools until right before. What is the secret for? |
| I love how people with no knowledge about something assume it’s simple and they could do everything better. |
| Not that hard |
| They need to get tournament permits for the fields and make sure they can staff that field location with referees. They can't put a bracket together if they are still waiting for a team to pay. |
Yes for a random meaningless tournament for national playoffs? |
| Lets take ECNL playoffs as an example. While your team from DMV may have know they qualified since last fall. Some leagues that play in the spring play right up through first week of June. So final list of qualifies teams isn't known until then. Then they have a draw to put the them into pools. Then you have to assign games, fields, times, etc. Now multiple this by six for each age group. Now multiply by two as has to be done for both boys and girls. |
Not to mention some of the people working on it are part time or volunteering and it's not the only thing they do. There really isn't a need to have the brackets done early other than satisfying annoying entitled Karens. |
^^^Agree. It was well known the days of play and when we would need to arrive and be on-site. Only missing thing was the who the team was was playing and times. Not a big deal having gone through this a few times before. |
| i look at it more as marketing - especially at the larger tournaments. the sooner the pairings are released i think it helps the marketing part of it. the rest of it i agree, they show when you will play and that is fine, but marketing is part of the game these days. |
To get the level of service that some people want would mean tournaments would cost even more money to hire more staff and have better online tools and apps. How do we think increased tournament fees would go over? |
Increased tournanent fees getting rid of the stay to play racket would be welcome by many. Spread out by the number of families we are talking about better planning would really not add that much to each individual. |
