Lively flip phone for ride-share

Anonymous
My mother is in her late 80's and no longer drives. She can't use a smart phone, so I got her a Lively phone. She just presses one button to call an operator who calls a Lyft car for her.

The Lively phones are cheap. But I finally put an Airtag on it because my mother kept losing it. It is also convenient to track my mother when she starts walking because she missed her ride.

The only trouble is that Lively shuts the phone off when the balance exceeds $200 intramonth, despite month-end auto-pay. That can easily happen after a few Lyft rides. So I call periodically call to put $1,000 of credit on her account. Then she is good for several months.

Just a few calls to request a Lyft (not the Lyft rides themselves) costs over $200?

OP says the Lively operator arranges the ride. It makes sense for Lively to charge the ride to the user’s account.

If she's missing the rides arranged for her, and losing the phone all the time-she is not in the right living situation. It sounds like she needs more help.

Uber now has a feature for Elder transport. Just noticed it in the last few days and have not tried it, but may be an easier option?
