| Has Miner improved at all or are things still not great across the board? As we’re making decisions about where to send our child for elementary school (we’re inbound for Miner), I’m particularly concerned about behavioral issues in the higher grades. Also, are the teachers any happier? |

If true that 20 teachers are transferring, I have no idea whether that means that the new principal ran off a lot of dead weight after her first year OR that she is a bad principal.
My kid went there for ECE last year and I got the sense that the new principal means business and was striving to make positive changes, some of which weren’t welcomed by parents and staff used to the old ways. No inside information though… it’s a tough job with such a high concentration of at-risk students across all grades. |

| I heard that a lot of the staff at Miner had a very difficult time with the principal. There was a mass exodus of 20 teachers. |

FWIW I think this cuts both ways. A lot of the Miner teachers were not good and used to doing functionally nothing/whatever they wanted during the turnover of principals. During COVID, teachers no showed more than 50% of my child’s scheduled classes. Zero accountability. Everyone who could transferred as soon as they could after that and it just killed any momentum the school had been building. |

| how old is your child? dcps is pretty focused on improving miner and bringing in an experienced principal was intentional. |

If you’re responding to the PP, I don’t think we’re disagreeing. My point was that 20 teachers leaving was not necessarily because the principal was bad. My kid is going into 5th grade and does not go to Miner any longer. |

| responding to the OP. if your child is 3 and you are looking ahead at preK, miner is fine, you will get in because its your IB, and i absolutely wouldnt commute across town to go elsewhere. you can take elementary school a year at a time. mid-elementary? id play the lottery |
