In a normal year no one would be panicking about option years until mid September. We just got a long awaited recompete RFQ for a contract that ends next month. Things are insane but some contracting will happen…
But I’m still preparing to be laid off :/ |

| contracts expire at all times of the year, not just October 1st. I'm confused by this post. I am aware of contracts being renewed and new contracts being awarded. |

While true contracts can be awarded any time, many are awarded right at the end of each fiscal year. It’s why October 1 is a looming cliff for a lot of us |

| It depends on several factors. Are option periods built into your contract and if so, how many? Not all contracts go for a base plus four. What type of appropriation is funding your contract? No year? 1 year, or even 5 year money? It’s the unilateral right of the govt to exercise an option. However, be sure to check and see if FAR 52.217-8 and -9 are built into the contract. If so, have the blank spaces been filled in with specific timeframes? |

| Our contract year ended in February. Then they renewed us for another month. Then another five months. I'll get back to you in August. |
