Okay I was in the book section in Walmart & picked up the Ruth Ware novel βThe Woman In Room 11β which is a sequel to her highly popular novel βThe Woman In Cabin 10.β
Well when the cashier went to ring it up - she stated that the cash register wouldnβt let me purchase itβ¦that she got a message saying it was unpermitted to sell. I have Googled but have found nothing. Your thoughts?? |
Google suggests release day is tomorrow? Sounds like they accidentally put it out early and weren't allowed to sell it yet. |
Probably no upc code in the system usually from a bad return. |
Some employee mistakenly put it out before its original publish date.
The book is set to be released tmw (07/08.) Employees sometimes mess up like this. |
I think it is Suite 11. |
I bet if you go back today the book will ring up! |
Yes, it was a pre-release. Barnes and Noble will still sell it if it's out (or at least they do to me). |
Publishers have something called the "street date." The book is not allowed to be put out for sale or check out at a library before this date, even though the books are sent to them ahead of the date. This will be noted on the paperwork that comes with the books. Someone made a mistake and put it out too early. I used to work as a librarian and we were told that we would be fined if this happened and the publisher found out. |
^^ Too bad because I have been busy working all darn wk and havenβt had time to return back to the store and I was looking forward to a relaxing wknd w/a great book!
