Question for those with kids playing in college

Anonymous
My freshman daughter is currently in preseason at a college on the opposite coast from where we live. We're looking at making a trip or two to watch her play/visit.

How much time do the players generally have - let's say on a home two game weekend (Th/Sun gms)? To travel so far, it makes sense to go on a weekend with two games, but we'll likely get less time seeing her. We may also go on a weekend with only 1 game.

Any advice? We thought of asking her coach, but wanted some real life experiences.

She's playing in the ACC, for reference.

College soccer is her job now. Expect she will be with the team or have classwork to keep up with most of the time and have little time to be visiting with you.

I understand that part. But I am asking for others’ experience. Are they able to take their kid to dinner one night? Two would be a luxury.

I have traveled out of the country to watch her play w the YNT a few times so I am used to just saying “hi” after a game. Was hoping in college we could maybe share a meal is all.

I can’t answer but just wanted to say congratulations to your daughter on her achievements. She sounds truly talented.

My DD is in year 2 of ACC play. With the exception of school and the actual games... we had plenty of time with her during visits.

No, we want to plan trips (and family/older relatives want to come) and we wanted to hear how much time to expect so as to let the grandparents know, etc.
