Adding license plate mount after market

Anonymous
Other than DIY, what is the cheapest way for me to add a front license plate mount to a used car? It came from a state that doesn’t require front license plates, so there aren’t even any pre drilled holes. I didn’t buy it from a dealership, so there was no one to perform the service for me.

Probably cheaper to just get a fine once in a while. Or never.

Do you care how it looks?

An OEM part will probably fit best on some cars. You might be able to buy that online or at a local dealership. Make sure you get screws with the plate.

If you have an independent mechanic you use, ask them to do it.

Check your bumper for tiny dimples. They might be molded in. Find a handy friend who owns a drill.

I believe I did my own once. Found dimples and I might have drilled holes. Used OEM mount. It's possible I might have screwed the screw directly into the dimple without drilling with a drill.

PP. You can also call the dealership and ask for a price for the parts and the work.

Car was purchased for teenager. Teen wants to use it for driving test, but can’t even take driving test in vehicle with a missing plate, per the DMV regulations.

Some cars have a tow hook hole in front hidden under a small plastic cover. You can remove the cover and screw in an aftermarket mount

Just zip tie the plate to the front grill for the test

There are two "dimples" on the front bumper where the screws go for the license plate. Your bumper is plastic so it's not problem at all to drive screws through it. You can mount the plate right to the bumper without a frame, or you can buy a frame on Amazon for a couple dollars and use that.
