It was our child's first time sleepaway camp for a week. When we pick up our child, we find out that they are international counselors that work for a few weeks at camp in visa and then they will leave to travel at USA before heading back to their home countries. It is like an exchange program. We only do a week this summer. And, I wonder if I should have given them some cash like $20 - $50/pp when I pick up my kid. What is the norm here? |
There are 2 counselors stay at the cabin with 10 boys. Op here. |
Why would their being international matter in terms of tipping? |
Why are you deliberately using poor grammar and sentence structure, OP? Don't tell me English isn't your first language. You'd write better if it were ![]() The visa status of the young adult has nothing to do with whether or not you tip. My dual citizenship son is currently working as a camp counselor, and tipping is not expected, but maybe camp policy varies. You can ask the camp administrator if you want. |
I think people on those visas have been most of the camp counselors for decades.
Tipping depends on the camp, just ask. They’ll tell you. |
Our camp prohibits tipping, full stop. |
We tip the counselors $20 each. 2 counselors to cabin. |
It’s called “ Camp America”
They get paid a pittance but it’s advertised as a great experience. I almost did it back in the 90s but came here on the au pair program for a year instead ( from England) |
OP looks like a google translated post. |
