We have an upcoming college tour of Elon and are staying at the Inn at Elon the night before our morning tour. Where should we eat dinner the night before our tour? I heard rumors of a good taco restaurant? Would like our child to have a good experience during this visit so that it's an appealing likely option (have done our research on the school and are aware of positives/negatives). Thanks for any suggestions! |
I have family in that area and we always go to Hursey's in Burlington for barbecue. |

You will love The Inn at Elon. It’s a beautiful hotel. You should walk through campus and go to The Root, or if looking for something more casual, Magerks. |
OP: Thanks for the responses! We love (and miss) good NC barbecue so appreciate that recommendation. And a stroll through campus to food sounds lovely! |

I like this website for college visits. |
The Mark (at the Inn) is actually very good, but your kid may find it too formal. When my kid was there, we usually went to The Mark on visits. We went to an amazing restaurant over by High Point but also fancy and not worth the drive for a one night visit. Greensboro also has several nice restaurants but they won’t show off the school atmosphere, which is what I assume you want to see. |
We actually ate at the Inn and had a very nice meal. We also ate at a pizza place on the corner of campus to get that feel. |
Options are pretty limited, and Elon is a sleepy town, especially in the summer, but went last summer and had a really good meal at The Root. Elon Inn is a nice place to stay too! |
Pandora's Pies is the pizza place on the main drag - and the Smitty's ice cream adjacent. We liked Simply Thai around the corner. |
OP: Amazing to get all these suggestions and recommendations, as well as affirmation of staying at The Inn at Elon.
Of all the schools we will see during this swing through that part of the country, I am most curious about Elon because we have the most to learn. I appreciate you all - thanks! |
There is a nice wine bar in downtown Burlington, but your kid may not be impressed. |
