Are these ads real? They are looking for guards to work at Alligator Alcatraz in the worst conditions, forced to live where they work for low pay.

Well yes, but you don't get to torture people at Dick's so there's no real draw there for a certain type of person.

According to an article linked in the other Alcatraz thread, mosquitoes and the diseases they carry like encephalitis are one of the biggest dangers for humans in that area. And severe hurricanes, which the tents are not built to withstand.

What's the question? Nobody is making anyone apply for those jobs, but if someone wants to, so what? Similar postings occur for overseas security roles in hellholes around the world to protect oil and gas facilities, food distribution sites in Gaza, to provide security on commercial vessels subject to attack by pirates, etc. Nothing new about jobs in difficult environments.

GuardaWorld is a huge security conglomerate, so it probably is real. The pay seems on the low side for DCUM but 72k per year with no housing costs is going to get a lot of takers.

Yeah but those guys get paid a helluva more than $25 an hour. That’s what’s new about this difficult environment. DHS is seeking overseers to work in difficult environment and not willing to pay them.

I asked Grok about staffing for the camp. Apparently around 1400 staff of all kinds will be needed to support up to 5,000 detainees:

They know that they don’t have to follow unconstitutional commands. They are going to absolutely be shipping American citizens there eventually to hold them illegally while they “investigate.”
