BWI - how much time to get from train station to airport

I live in Arlington, off of the Orange line, and am flying out of BWI at the end of the week - my flight leaves around 10:30 am.

My plan is to metro to Union Station and then take either the MARC or Amtrack up to BWI. I know that one has to take a shuttle between the train station and the airport, and the website says that the shuttle runs "approximately every 10-15 minutes." However, the one time I flew into BWI and then took MARC to DC, it seemed like I waited for over 20 minutes for the shuttle (this was several years ago).

If you take the train to/from BWI, how much time do you generally allow for the shuttle between the train station and airport?

I'd say give 20-25 minutes from stepping off the train to getting off the bus. 10 minutes to wait for the bus (usually it's been around 5 for me), then 15 or so to board and drive to the airport. For a 10:30 flight I'd want a train that arrives at BWI station around 8:30 or 9 (for those with PreCheck and not checking a bag).

Personally I'd take the 8:20 train that arrives at 8:55. If there is some significant delay, hop in a taxi at BWI rail station and they will speed to the airport for $10. There are always taxis there.
