Tough skin/minor acne scars/large pores

Anonymous
There is a small section of both my cheeks right above my nasolabial folds that have a combination of rough skin and, minor acne scars and large pores from oily skin as a teen. The rest of my face is largely fine.

What is the best treatment for this? I talked to a plastic surgeon and he said that CO2 lasers will help but I need to do my whole face and that’s expensive/invovles extensive downtime. My mom recently did less intensive lasers for fine lines and the results were not impressive.

Any other suggestions?

I've had good success with microneedling and chemical peels. It's expensive to do all in office so I went a couple times then ordered the supplies to do myself at home. It does take a lot of time to see results. I started last winter and my skin has noticably improved since maybe April or so.

Similar issues. My Derm said PRP microneedling, at least 3 sessions.

I use Tazorac now and it helps a tiny bit, but not as much as I’d like. Planning for the PRP in late fall.

May I ask which acids/percentages?

Chemical peels by Dermatologist 2-3x a year
Stronger prescription topicals

My pores are large and I too have areas of rougher thicker skin. Yes on professional microneedling

Have you tried CoolPeel? It's a less intense CO2 and it's more on the affordable side (under $800).

Are you in DC? Curious if that $800 figure is for the DMV or for a less expensive market

OP here - if in the DC area I would love specific recommendations. I am a fed in office 5 days a week and lost all my staff so days off are very limited! But I would like to address this issue for a reasonable (sub-$1500??) cost.

Sorry, just seeing this. There's all sorts of peels out there. There are some more mild ones like glycolic or mandelic. I do something stronger- jessners or TCA or retinol peel. Once you have done them a while you can even combine them. Platinum skin care has very detailed how to on their website/youtube (they also sell them).

Maybe switch from Retin A
A stronger prescribed topical

Don't waste your money on PRP microneedling, pretty much a well known scam now.

Are you able to increase your % of Retin-A?
