Should I just wear a bikini?

Anonymous
I’m mid 50s, tall, small waist, small chest, big hips, good butt, but overall 20-25 pounds overweight.

It took me years to get out of the frumpy mom-tankini that I lived in at our community pool when my kids were little, and a few years ago, I made the switch to one piece suits and I feel better.

But now I’m like, seeing stuff on Instagram about what the hell, just wear a bikini, and I wondered if there really are flattering two piece suits for my body type. Long waisted, if that matters. Or should I stick to the one piece suits.

Girl, life is too short to care what other people think! If you are comfortable in a bikini then YES wear it!!!

Wear what you want.

I was wearing a one piece the other day and I saw a bigger woman wearing a high waisted two piece. I thought she looked great. I think that is a very flattering style especially for someone with a big chest.

I think the style turning to high waisted helps. I'm turning 40 and the bikinis when I was in my teens/20s were tiny ultra low rise ones that i wasn't even comfortable wearing then. Now I'm seeing ones that provide a lot more coverage but still give some cuter options. (That said, I haven't bought one myself because my two old suits are still functional, but I would.)

Yes just do it.
I don't like one pieces because they're so hard to get on and off, when you need to use the toilet.

I think one pieces look the classiest and most elegant.

They are but also the least comfortable.

I am on my 50s and also about 20 pounds overweight with a very similar build. I have a couple of high rise bottoms (some shorts some regular swim bottoms) that I wear with bikini tops. I like the ones from athleta or I actually got very flattering ones from aerie. The trick is not to show my belly biutton which is stretched out. I often end up putting a rash guard on for part of the day and it’s just more comfortable with a bikini. Plus then the bottoms don’t rise up as much like they do with a one piece. But I also have a one piece I like.

The answer is always yes, if you are asking

Now I myself don't care to wear bikinis. So I wouldn't be asking

But since you are...

Yes

I’m not a bikini wearer myself but I support you wearing what you want.
