I can't find these anymore at my usual Wegmans or WF circuit. Last strawberries I had were pretty bland. |
Neither are in season. |
Maine has strawberries in season now and southern New England just started blueberry season. |
and yet some stores manage to have good ones |
saw them at harris teeter the other day didn't buy tho |
Bethesda and Pike+Rose farmers' markets, although strawberry season is past. Blueberries and black berries are very good now. |
Strawberry season was pretty bleak around here. Blueberries are just past peak.
At local farmers markets look for farms from further north. |
The wet weather messed up so many local strawberries. We did “pick your own” at local farms this year like Butler’s orchard and they were awful. Hopefully the blueberries aren’t so bad… |
I don't know what you mean by sweet when it comes to blueberries as I like my berries to be a bit tart but I just spent $40 on blueberries from a farm stand up in Cavetown, MD, near the PA line, and they are delicious. Going to make a pie with some of them and the rest will be with yoghurt for breakfast this week.
Will say Whole Foods has a reliably good supply of berries and strawberries. They won't be local but imported from where they are in season. Rarely fails me and most of the time better than what you get at farmers markets. |
Mabe's in NC has a variety of strawberries that produce all summer. I got some in NC last week on my way back from vacation and just finished them--so delicious. If you really really want them, here's the website to see where they're sold. https://mabesberryfarm.com/?fbclid=IwY2xjawLXPapleHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETFpSHpHT3JOZXZhTkVZYXdrAR58tBuDAwfbS-KpR5aW-LPd7jgqo7ZFOSgwVu9rFJKJPaCJWBrzR6Y_p36UDw_aem_HYosV9_HqkhZSy2LgZqc7Q |
I'm not sure if they're available yet, but Norman's farm market on Mass Ave by Little Flower sells the most delicious little wild strawberries - I've been dreaming of them all year. |

Looks like they have them now.... |
