Flying cross country soon and debating whether we need to take the booster or not. We used one of the safety vest things for a while but now kid is in backless and not sure we really need to take it to travel. We’ll be driving some significant distances. For reference kid is 9, 4”1 and about 60 pounds…. |
You need to look up state laws for where you are going to see if your kid is under age or height/weight requirements. If don’t want to do that then yes, bring a booster as that is only way you know for sure compliant if don’t look up. |
My 9 year old is similar and we use the Graco travel booster and have friends who use the Bubble Bum - both of those take up minimal space in a suitcase (in fact, they slide into my daughter's carry on). We have also in the past used the Safe Travel vest and it's fantastic. |
I would probably get a bubble bum , you can blow it up when you need it and deflate to put in your bag. |
We use the ride safer vest with our 9yo when traveling and driving far. I find the ride safer easier to travel with than the other boosters we have had |
Depending where we traveling to….
At that age, we’d just run by Target or WalMart & pick up a cheap one if we had a rental car and were going to be doing a lot of driving. (Since I felt it was ideal to have, but not an extreme issue to not be sitting in one on the ride from the airport) Other times I’d just check it. |
ETA: sorry, to clarify: we’d buy one at Target etc our destination. |
+1. Yes, we take the backless booster if the vacation involves car rides. Most airlines will check them for free as a special piece of luggage. |
We probably did for our first kid. Now with our 3rd kid - currently 6.5 - we don't do boosters at all. |
We do now that kids are 6 and 10. Younger is still in a car seat at home, about to graduate to high back booster once we get home. |
As long as it’s ok in the state we’re in, we skip it. Youngest is 8.5 and he rides without on trips. He’s 55” and 75 lbs, fwiw |
It's so easy to just take it - it can go in overhead. I don't know why you wouldn't. |
Yes |
Just get a bubble bum |
I’d pack it and check it. Airlines waive the fees for these kinds of items. |
