On a day to day basis, does your family watch tv together or does everyone use their screen time (or however you manage screens) to do their own thing? How old are your kids? |
No. Kids are 17 and 21, but we didn't really do that when they were younger. I'm not much of a TV-watcher, so it was easy to relinquish the remote to them. |
We do! We’ve gone through a few phases with this. Youngest is 12; oldest is 21 and has not watched the last few with us. Some shows we’ve enjoyed include:
Amazing Race Brooklyn 99 Lego Masters Young Sheldon Never Have I Ever (don’t recommend for younger than 12) Manifest |
We almost always gather for a single 30-45 minute show after dinner. Kids are 14 and 17, habit solidified during pandemic years. |
We often do but it’s show dependent. My DS13 with ADHD joins us for certain shows, like Stranger Things or Modern Family or the new Watson. We make those shows family tv time. He rarely joins us for movies. My DS16 regularly joins us for movie nights. |
No. Just sports and/or CNN. |
Is Modern Family still on? I watched it when it was new but now my kid is 13 I would watch again with her.
We watch Survivor and Amazing race together. Occasionally a movie. Other than that no, we watch our own stuff. |
We used to do that exclusively when our kids were late elementary to mid-teens. They did not have personal devices then. All that went out of the window during the pandemic and growing up into older teens. |
DH and I do, but not the whole family. |
You can stream the whole series. I watched this with my daughter when she was 12-13. First three or four seasons were super funny but then it got a little too wacky for me |
Yes, we watch 1-2 episodes of a series every night together, when they are home from college on breaks. We create a watchlist together. They are 18 and 19. |
Kids are 15 and 17 and yes; maybe 2-3 nights a week? |
Sure we did and still do sometimes. But NEVER commercial TV. Just recorded on DVD episodes of older TV programs. Commercials are toxic. |
Sometimes! We love Is it Cake! |
Not on a daily basis but at least weekly we do a family TV or movie night. My kids are older elementary. Usually it’s game shows. |
