D3 for ‘26 kids

How is it going? Will your kid commit this summer or wait and see where they get in and make the choice based on the best options available?

Former college coach here.

If you're looking at schools with roster caps you dont wait until you get it. Commit and if you dont get in, come up with a new plan.

It is already late in the game in the D1 world if that's an option. Schools are moving on to 27s and wanting to wrap up 26s soon, late fall at latest. You always get the random international or straggler that will get a spot no matter what even if it means cutting a current team member for the roster spot.

If d3 is your plan and you are happy with your option commit.

You only get the admissions bump if you commit. Why would you wait to see where you get in? There may very well not be any roster spots by that time. Plus, at competitive D3 schools, your kid likely won't get in.

How does is work on D3 teams with roster spots? I know D1 is limited but I see D3 teams all over the place.

mom of D3 swimmer, it depends on the school. Some carry up to 40 men and 40 women. 1/2 the team does not travel.
