Michael Madsen

I just saw that Michael Madsen passed away. I've only seen him in Thelma and Louise, but for some reason he made a huge impression on me when I first saw the film as a young teenager. I saw Jimmy as the epitome of masculinity, and SO gorgeous.

Agree. Remember him in Platoon?? So hot!! Sadly he had addiction issues which I am sure hurt his health even though I think he has been sober awhile. He also lost a son a few years back so life has been challenging for him.

I don’t think he was in Platoon

Tarantino wrote the part of Jules in Pulp Fiction that eventually went to John Travolta because he had been so great in Reservoir Dogs. Madsen had a scheduling conflict. GREAT actor and OP is right he was fantastic in Thelma & Louise.

Jules was played by Samuel L. Jackson. Come on, people.

Dammit yes I meant Vincent was written for Madsen. Vacation is rotting my brain. Jules was written for Laurence Fishburne who passed because it wasn’t a lead role.

He was a good character actor.
Was great in "Beyond the Law" and "Kill Bill" movies.

Really enjoyed him in “Donnie Brasco”. RIP.

+1

There’s a document floating around the internet that has Tarantino’s list of choices for all the main characters in that movie. It’s really interesting.

The emotion on his face just before he said the line, "They're brown."

Such a loss of such talent.

He was so good in Reservoir Dogs and Kill Bill, I'm not sure why Tarantino gave him so little to work with in Hateful 8.

His sisters tribute online was so poetic - really amazing sentiments that you don't often hear as it's so touching.
