I’ve been tapped to bring in a cake and cupcakes for a neighborhood event and I’m wondering which area grocery stores have the best tasting one that I can order ahead of time?
Giant Safeway Harris Teeter Wegmans I’m trying to avoid food coloring/dyes and hoping to find options for vanilla and chocolate. I haven’t ordered anything like this from a grocery store in years (I use a bakery for most cakes), but I need to place a large order and can’t break the bank. I’ve had a slice of chocolate cake from Wegmans recently that was surprisingly good. Curious what other people would suggest? PS - How early do you need to place an order? |
Wegmans 100%
Don't do Harris Teeter, the amount of dye in their frosting will turn your poop that color. |
At Wegmans, I think they need 24 hour turn around but they also have cakes ready to go and they'll write on them for you while you wait. |
Wegmans ultimate chocolate cake is legitimately good. You can buy an 8” round cake from their case. The cupcakes are fine but not as good. |
Wegmans, no contest. |
Costco or giant. |
Wegman’s for sure! |
Safeway is surprisingly good and way cheaper than Wegmans if you run into budget constraints. What quantities are you looking for? Many have standard combos of vanilla and chocolate cupcakes sold by the dozen in the bakery case. |
Whole Foods has the best cakes. |
I’ve never had anything good from the Whole Foods bakery. |
Giant cakes were inhaled at our birthday parties for 13 years. |
