What Northwestern looks for in an ED applicant

Besides high stats.

What are the things to highlight or focus on in their supplementals?

depends on their interests, which school they they are applying into. like every other highly selective school, they are looking for a group of smart, motivated, interesting kids who, together will form a strong class.

My kid got in ED but I don’t think this is an answerable question. I think the answer is basically the same for every school. Kids that seem interesting with a passion for learning who are engaged in their community?

I was reading another post (above), it seems they put a lot of emphasis on EC, 30% weight. National level or research publication.

I don’t think you “need” it first ED (but in what we’ve seen for RD at our school, yes).
But if the other parts of the application are super strong it may outweigh weaker ECs?
