They use your own high school’s data in evaluation. They are not comparing your Dc with population in general.

CollegeVine, although I don’t think it’s accurate for certain cases like Virginia Tech, which is very major dependent. It also puts JMU as way too much of a safety than I think it is.

The best data is your particular school’s Niche or Scoir report relative to your kid’s performance. Look at the scattergram; they are the most accurate telling of what students got in with what GPA and what SAT over the past 3-5 years. Note, it’s gotten increasingly hard over the last five years.

How do you get this? Our school has naviance but it’s only one years worth of data which is not helpful for some colleges.
I would love to see district wide with the option to look at 1 year or 3 year data.

You have to ask your counselor.

Our school locked naviance data so we don’t even get to see one year data. Meet with your counselor she will show you on her screen only.

None of them are accurate for top schools.

This. CV doesn't consider competition within your school. Especially if you're a kid at TJ or another magnet, or a top public, the percentages will be way off.

The problem is the FCPS scattergams have data from I think the past 5 years, and so it is no longer accurate .
