Tell me about any relatively recent experience with Quince

Anonymous
I've lost a lot of weight, and am in the position of basically putting together a new wardrobe. Which is expensive as heck when you have to buy most everything. I'll be taking a capsule-ish approach to my wardrobe, at least for now. And Quince has a lot of basics that look like they would work for me, everything from cashmere cap sleeve tops to twill cargo pants to bathing suits.

But I am concerned about the quality. Should I expect Amazon/Shein quality? If that is the case I'll just move along and won't order from them. But is it better than that? I'm hearing mixed things.

TIA for any help/advice on this.

Better than Shein by a lot

I like Quince. I know there are mixed reviews on here but I find the quality good. Love their linen button downs. All the pants I have fit well too.

It really depends on the item. I’ve found their returns to be easy, so no harm in trying some things

I also lost a lot of weight (70 lbs!) and needed a new wardrobe from scratch. I have ordered a lot of things from Quince that I love and a couple I've returned. The quality is better than Amazon/Shein but not as nice as the luxury brands it compares itself to.

The linen is great. I have the dress below in two colors (navy and the blue and white stripe) and I wear them all the time. They are very sexy. I also have some not sexy linen pants that look surprisingly stylish for days when modesty is a top concern.

The cashmere is meh but cheap. I'd skip it and save up for a designer piece. I ordered and returned a yak sweater. It was itchy.

This wrap dress is gorgeous and very flattering though it does need ironing and so I wear it less than I'd like. I bought it when I was 15 pounds from goal weight and it looked good then and still looks good 15 pounds down.

My best advice for buying a wardrobe from scratch is to do it slowly. I have leaned hard on buying multiples of the same item in different colors. Often I will order from a website where I can return and if I like the piece I will find it on Poshmark in a different color and order the duplicate that way.

Most people will say it's hit or miss, but I've generally liked what I have gotten from there. Definitely better than Amazon/Shein quality.

It’s much nicer than Shein/Amazon or stores like Old Navy. I have found that the sizing runs a little small. Check the size charts and the fits, particularly if you’re tall.

Definitely a step or two up from Amazon. I have quite a few pieces from there. Love the silk button down I have. The cashmere is thin and a little meh. I love the cotton fisherman’s sweater. Love some summer pieces I’ve gotten.

I think their fabrics are generally good - it’s usually the cut that makes or breaks a piece for me. I’ve also bought earrings there that I love!

I'm in the same boat as you OP!

I just ordered two dresses from Quince (links below). I really liked both, but am returning them for mediums. We'll see if that works.

I found the quality to be pretty good.

If you like the items at Quince you should also check out Pact, Everlane, and Madewell. These stores offer a lot of good neutral staples that work for a capsule wardrobe. Now that I’m done having babies and my weight has settled I’m also working on rebuilding a wardrobe that can largely mix and match.

I have also found some nice items from J Crew Factory (like button downs, cardigans, and dresses). Some of JCF’s cheaper stuff isn’t great quality, but the items $60 + tend to be decent and they have a good selection of swimsuits.

OP here. Thank you so much, this is really really helpful.

OP here, and I absolutely love Pact. My fave dress is from there.

This. And if something falls apart in the wash, they’re even helpful then. They have many different manufacturers and realize that there can be a difference in quality.

I’ve had an items arrive from the U.S. and curtains shipped directly from India.

OP, I lost about 75 pounds and had to rebuild my wardrobe too. It isn't easy and it is expensive. One PP advised going slowly, and I would recommend the same. I found some success with Quince, but did find that the cashmere pilled more than I liked, but at that price point, it was not surprising.

For the fast fashion/lower price point, Zara and H&M work well for me now and I have been able to mix basics with higher end pieces and get lots of compliments. Banana Republic is also great right now and you can get good sale price points.

A great instagram account is Fond.losangeles/Roni Brun. You can find lower end items that still have quality construction if you know what to look for and I find her tips to be very helpful.

No idea but congrats OP!
